KultureKlub: African Film

On Wednesday, 14th of October, we will be having our first screening of the month at the Mist, starting at 6pm all the way to 11pm. We will be screening Flame, a 1996 war film. It was the first Zimbabwean film, since independence, to be set in the Rhodesian Bush War. It served as a tribute to the Zimbabwe African National Liberation Army’s many female guerrillas. The celebrated stories of war usually focus on the exploits and struggles of men, ignoring those of women and relegating them to traumatic memories painfully held by individuals who would never be allowed to share their truths. This film although fiction, gives you an accurate representation of the true experience of thousands, of women who actively participated in the war and the liberation struggle. ⚠️ Trigger warning - this film contains scenes of sexual assault that may be distressing or triggering for some viewers. Please take care of yourself and step away if needed. The first few minutes are for engaging with each other, enjoying the free tea, snacks, getting drinks at the bar and interacting with our vendors. The screening of the short will start at 6:45pm. The seating is on a first come fist serve basis, kuja mapema📣 RSVP here - https://forms.gle/A3CeakhJ1ns2BU7L7 AFRIKA NI SINEMA🌍🎬
